Chapter Philanthropy
Our Beneficiaries:
Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center
Cedar Creek is a horseback riding facility for those with emotional, physical, or mental disabilities. Not only do we make an annual donation to Cedar Creek, our chapter sends 15 volunteers each week to act as "side walkers" to physically and emotionally support riders. Volunteers also help with maintenance work of the riding center facilities.
JED Foundation
Each year, we as a chapter vote on one organization that promotes mental health awareness and provides resources for those impacted by mental illness. This year we have voted to support the JED Foundation! The JED Foundation is a non-profit organization that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults in the United States.
Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation
The Kappa Foundation equips women with the resources to spark change and preserves values established by our beloved founders. Since 1989, we’ve been working with the Fraternity to keep Kappa moving in a positive direction. The Foundation is often thought of in terms of heritage and even financial assistance. It also helps provide educational and leadership programming for women of all ages.
Our Philanthropies:
Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament
To help aid this cause we hold our annual Kappa Klassic Golf tournament that takes place over two weekends in September. The first is where we caddy for Fraternities and the second is where we caddy for our fathers. Last year we raised $48,734! The Kappa Klassic raises more money than any other Greek philanthropy on campus and each year we strive to raise more than the previous year.
Matches for Mental Health
This year we decided to organize a spring philanthropy event emphasizing our efforts in mental health awareness. In April, we hosted a 'Mental Health Week' where we helped promote mental health awareness on campus and within our chapter with various sisterhood and community events. The week ended with a pickleball tournament that any Mizzou student could participate in and raised over $10,000!
